I was surprised as well, but even more so when i saw Michael Moore's name mentioned as a possibility (and Mel Gibson's. What is up with nominating entertainers?)

both MM and MG had big impacts, but W had the greatest impact and was the most talked about person all year. I think he suprised a lot of people with his margin of victory.

What a surprise. | Like it matters (I mean Time having a MOTY, not you, Kid), but who would you have chosen? Nobody comes to mind that stood out.

I personally think that Time should not be considered any sort of authority or high level reading material...it's not like the MOTY is the Nobel Prize or something. To me Time is no better than People magazine.

My thoughts too. Didn't they have OBL or Saddam as MOTY once? What difference does it really make? And, it was a big news year for GWB, I don't disagree with the choice, just for lack of someone else more newsworthy (I assume that is the basis for their choice).

I don't think it is on par with the Nobel Prize. Its an issue that they have been doing for a long time. Much like the SI Sportsmen of the Year or any other magazines best of _______
and I think Time is more a news magazine where People is an entertainment medium

I didn't mean to imply that you thought it was on par with the Nobel Prize...I was just trying to get the point across that Time is on the same level as People...they are both owned by the same company and do things to sell magazines. There really is no true value in who they deam Person of the Year.
