Since some of you are so keen to know about Singapore, Southeast Asia and Asian culture in general...
Though I have lived there for bout 12 years before moving to North America, I do not guarantee an answer for every question.

Do people commonly get flogged and how can we adopt that as part of US law?
And a really dumb question I should know but I don't, what language do they speak in Singapore?
Thanks Tim! Its been a while since we've had an 'amnesty' thread.

Hey, aren't you supposed to hang around and answer the questions you asked people to ask?

Though Singapore's actually a large city in itself, there's usually plenty of local parks to escape to from the city.

Well for certain offenses, yes ( and you probably remembered Michael Fay many years back). I certainly object to it-I see it as physical abuse. They have the death penalty too and you can get it if you get charged with (1) 1st degree murder, (2) drug trafficking
As for languages in Singapore, there's no such thing as "Singaporean". The 4 main languages spoken are English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil (an Indian language) since the 3 main nationalities there are the Chinese, Malays, and East Indians. I learnt English and Mandarin in school so I'm pretty much fluent in these (though I'm losing my Mandarin)
