I'm sorry this teenager lost her life, but when will people learn that wild animals are just that? What makes them think they won't attack?

These sanctuary places are contributing to this school of thought as are performers like Siegfried and Roy.
Big cats, bears, monkeys and alligators do not make good pets.

I was thinking the exact same thing. At what point did this seem like a good idea?

Right behind, "Hmmm, L'eau du Beouf: perfume: what a thoughtful graduation gift!!"

That is sad. When I was in Africa, we went to a lion sanctuary. They had a cublet out for us to pet, and cautioned us about having any bags, straps, etc hanginf because the cub could pull on them and pull us closer and then bite. Also, no sudden moves, or it could sever your fingers.
I didn't pet it. I'm a chicken, but I have all of my digits.
