thumbs up or thumbs down

Last night, the Cowboys broke out their throwback uniforms in their exhibition game vs. the Saints.

Here's a link to a picture if you missed it:

http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060822/capt.f9192f58f5654ec695b61ab78b1e84ea.cowboy_saints_football_lars105.jpg

Personally, I'm a sucker for throwback sports stuff, so I like that the Cowboys do this on occasion (plus I think they look really sharp, a simple look from a simpler time). The Chargers also have great throwbacks that they wear from time to time.

The Cowboys' regular uniform is very good, but the occasional appearance in throwbacks is nice.

I like the uniforms!! They look sharp!

/just an aside: what do you think of the throwback uniforms the USAF is considering? The current uniform looks more like a Delta pilot, not belted.

Throwback on the left? On the right if I didn't know about the medals, I would think those were airline pilots. Nothing on the right says "soldier" to me.

Here's an image of the Chargers throwback uniform. I like it better than their regular ones. Then again, I'm just a sucker for the "old school" sports stuff.

The current one is like a business suit, not belted. It looks even less military.
That's the main complaint of airmen is that nothing about their uniform says "military".

I like the throwback football uniforms. How many other teams have these?

That wasn't really the point of the discussion, but...I like the Eagles' old kelly green uniforms much more than their current "midnight" green or whatever they call it.

football schmootball.

Aire, I like the current USAF uniform, but the lapel is too big. I think they should do something about the lapel, and ad a shiny buckle on the belt over the jacket... then it will be perfect.

When they had the 75th anniversary all the teams played two or three (maybe) games in throwback gear. It was very strange seeing the Packers wearing blue and gold (their original colors - they were initially known as the Big Bay Blues until a meat packing plant bought the team, and the rest, as they say, is history).

Some still do it once in a while - I know the Bears did last year. Some really haven't changed all that much, like the Lions and Vikings.

I agree I like the throwbacks.

Speaking as a charger fan, and most charger fans I know agree with me, we like the current policy of breaking them out only once or twice a year.

They would lose their charm if they wore them all the time.

Some of the team's throwbacks are not so good. But most are ok.

And I remember that 75 year anniversary season. That was crazy! You'd turn on the tv, and if you couldn't see the score...you had no idea who was playing.
