Bubba Thornton of Texas and Jeanette Bolden
of UCLA have been nominated to coach the U.S. track and field team
at the Beijing Olympics.

The nomination by USA Track & Field, announced Thursday, must be
approved by the organization's board of directors.

Thornton has been the men's coach for 11 seasons at Texas, where
his athletes have won 10 NCAA individual titles. Before that, he
was head men's and women's' coach at TCU. He was head coach of the
U.S. men's team at the world championships in Paris in 2003.

Bolden is in her 14th year as the women's coach at her alma
mater, UCLA. Her team won the NCAA outdoor championship in 2004 and
the NCAA indoor titles in 2000 and 2001.
