Just found out that a co-worker (whose cube is beside mine) died from a heart attack last night while on a short vacation. While I wasn't crazy about her job skills, she was one of the nicest people here. She had a history of health problems related to obesity.

The irony is that she asked me a couple of weeks ago to help her with her diet and a walking program and eventually maybe a running program. We were to begin right after the holidays.

It really does suck, MB. We went through that here back in October, and our group is all really close. It's always a shock when it's sudden like that. cry

It's very cool that you were willing to help her, though.

Sad

Sorry to hear this.

I bet she appreciated your concern for her in wanting to help her with a plan to improve your health. I'm sad for her.

She was only in her early 50s. Her doctor had given her clearance, and we were really looking forward to her being a 5k monster this time next year. Her granddaughter goes to school right down the street from here and would stop in after school to hitch a ride home with her grandma. She really wanted to turn her health around to watch her grandkids grow up. Knowing what someone's goals for the future are puts a little extra sting in the loss.

You were great to give her hope of help. It's tough to lose weight. And too many people just spend their time being disgusted by it rather than trying to share good information or support.

It's unfortunate she wasn't able to start sooner. Somewhere, sometime, something good will come from this.

Very sad news, MB.
