I feel much worse this week after a 13 miler then I did last week after my 20 miler! Evil or Very Mad I'm supposed to be in tapering mode. But, my friends called and asked if I wanted to go with them into DC to run part of the course with them.

Problems:
1. They have a faster pace then I do
2. I'm not used to talking much while running (that may come as a shock to those of you that know me)
3. My dinner last night wasn't enough fuel (fruit and yogurt)

Anyway, I'm ready to really taper now. I hope I'll be able to recover well from this. I'm actually running the Army 10 Miler next weekend (not worrying about pace - just running it for fun because it's the 20th anniversary of the race) and then the marathon the week after. I'm ready for a nap!

Good for you and to be honest this is a normal reaction when a person enters tapering mode.

The desire to put in the miles, and to finally get that last big run out of the way creates lots of pent-up energy with noting to do with.

Relax from your comments the last several weeks you earned it and just enjoy the moment, the Army 10 miler seems like a good plan, but ust that race to get you in the proper mindset come marathon time the following week.

Good luck.

Forget tapering! It's worthless. You'd much rather run MCM on tired legs...better bragging rights. Wink

I hate tapering, although I tend to go overboard and not do enough running and way too much eating.

I made the decision to actually watch what I eat over the next few weeks. I'm cutting out on my "fru-fru" coffee drinks for one!

PM me if you have any updated info on where you are staying, etc.
