Good Evening:

Larry and I would like to say “Hello” and send you our best Florida Keys greetings. We hope that everyone is doing well and is having as much fun as we are down in the Keys!!

Larry is now managing one of the finest restaurants in South Florida; Morada Bay/Pierre’s. Number one Zagat rated!! He’s very busy and is really enjoying this new project, but misses The Elevator and all of his friends at the Tavern! I’m writing a restaurant review column, working on a book, and generally having fun and getting active in the community here.

OK, on to the disguised purpose of this e-mail. Larry and I are running for the title of “King and Queen of the Black and White Ball”!!! This wonderful competition enables us to raise much-needed funds for the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter; a non-profit organization which services runaways and families in need of counseling throughout the Florida Keys. Their services include family counseling, placement, and temporary shelter for children from Key Largo to Key West. They are the only organization serving this unique demographic.

The King and Queen are elected based on donations/funds raised .While we are certainly doing our part down in Islamorada with fundraisers including a croquet tournament and a barbeque (NC Style) we, and the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter would appreciate any help you might wish to offer. (I guess this is where we ask for money.)

If you’d like, we can take credit cards (we don’t process them ourselves; the Shelter and one of the banks here handles all of that). We merely need your name, credit card number, and expiration date; the bank will call you if they need more information.. Or, you can send a check paid to the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter with our names and “Black and White Ball” in the memo line. Send to 194 Carrroll Street, Islamorada, FL, 33036 BY Feb 28, 2004. Use our names as the addressee; but payable to the shelter. Our phone number here (best time to reach is day or weekends, but before Feb 28 at (PM Kristin for phone #)).

Thank you so much for your support. This truly is a wonderful cause and the Shelter needs any help which you can lend. If you need some more information about this very worthy cause and our fundraising efforts, you may either contact us or the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter at 305.852.4246.

Thanks again, friends!
