Son #1 who is a JR is in accel PE. Just lots of running, weight lifting, some games etc. Just like coming to the gym. So I get a progress report in the mail today saying he's failing. Mad 58.11%. 60.00% is a D-. WTF?? If he fails gym I swear he's gonna be up at the ass crack of dawn all summer doing my workouts with me. Mad This really makes me mad. Neutral

Figures. Poor JU. It isn't from lack of good example on your part though. Please don't blame yourself.

That'd be my guess - not taking his gym stuff with him.

Sure. Back centuries ago, when I was in HS, if you were on one of the school's sports teams, you got an automatic 'A' if your sport was in season for the given quarter.

One of many advantages I had of being the 15th man on the basketball squad. Cool

That's how it was in college for me. I played B-Ball so got an A. I also took weightlifting.... had to lift for b-ball anyways.

i kinda really wish gym teachers would leave the written testing to other classes, maybe health in this case. extra credit assignment, as in "do a report?" or gimme 50 laps?

Me too. I'm not sure what the extra credit assignment was but I'll find out after school. Surprised

I disagree. My kids had written exams in gym class about rules of the sport, history etc. I think that is much more responsible than a teacher just sending the kids off to play dodgeball every class period.
