You should have at least two cables run to each room in the house, and at least one CAT5 wire to each room.

If you are thinking about security, have a twisted pair run to every window and door in the house. It will make the alarm installers job much easier and always go for hardwire alarm systems.

At some point you can have a box put in your room that will tell you if any exterior door or window is opened, or if any interior door is opened...great if you have a kid or spouse that sleepwalks...

Short distance move - you can usually get most of your stuff there without having to rely a lot on a rental truck.

On the other hand, you can't deduct it for tax purposes.
