In some ways, yes I like to do things the old way, tried and true so you know exactly what your eating. I've done tomatoes, plums, and pickles this year. On the stove at the moment is a batch of applesauce that I intend to can as well.
It's kind of my way of subverting the consumerist paradigm.
now, what I need is someone who loves to garden but doesn't because there is no one to give the produce to. I say YOU garden, I process and we split whatever comes out of it.
Makey sensey, no?

I haven't had homemade pickles probably since I was a girl. Sounds so good right now.
I really admire those who have the inclination and ability to can. I never have. I'm just not that together I guess.
My aunt Gwen cans a delicious beet jelly. We just finished our last jar. Way yummy, tastes like the stuff they put in jelly donuts!

My grandmother made wonderful dill pickles. If I send you, say, $5.00, would you send me a jar?
I always wanted to learn how to can goods, just never got around to it. Is it easy? I make my own sauces but freeze batches. It's a pita to defrost and use.

It's easy. If a flaky chic like me can do it, so can you. The most important thing is a concept I learned from Julia Child. It's French term called mise en place, which is a cook means have all your sh*t together in one place measured out and ready. If you have a dishwasher it's even easier to keep the jars warm, etc.

If I send you $6 (its a bidding war, right?) and promise to name my first born Maddie (hey, I have a fever, its making sense right now) will you send me some?
Using your logic, I need a neighbor who ever spring/summer has an over-abundance of tomatoes and needs to off-load them on me. I LOVE homegrown tomatoes. Nothing better. Close second are homemade pickles. So I send $6 where?
