So, I should get Une's teacher a mug?
Seriously, what are the sorts of things you like to get from the kids? This teacher is new, having come from the field of banking (heard the call, I think) and works really hard to make sure Une gets what she needs. I really appreciate all her efforts. That said, I don't know much about her. In fact, truth be told, I couldn't ID her in a lineup. (And let's hope I never have to.)

Well, I got a UNC mug from my secret santa, but that rocks my face off.
I got a bag of m & m's from a first grader.

no mugs, EVAH! we have entirely too many of them that say "teacher" I hate them and can't possibly use them all.
How about movie tickets, gift certificates, etc?

No mugs. For real. I think I gave 50+ away when I left my last teaching job. I have a few here at home...but that's it. I think most will collect dust or sit in a cupboard somewhere.
Gift certificates are the best.
I have received ones to book stores, Starbucks, school supply stores, the mall, etc. One year my entire group of 6th grade math kids collected enough to send me to the spa for a day.
Sometimes a nice card of appreciation says it all.

I was feeling a bit badly this week as I cannot buy our preschool teachers, speech therapist, preschool director, and Will's teacher (whom I absolutely adore!) presents this year. We're too strapped, in a bad bad way. However, I don't feel so badly about the preschool ladies now... the past 3 days these women have racked up TONS and I do mean TONS of stuff from kids & parents.
I've decided that we're getting presents for everyone at the end of the school year. Figure I'll go to Bed, Bath, & Beyond and get them all some nice bubble bath, candles, and some aromatherapy stuffs so they can catch up on pampering themselves over the summer. I probably should start saving now.
Glad you're not getting mugs Keltic!! We've done gift certs in the past, those always go over well.

I'm not even a teacher and I already got a mug from a vendor who does construction work for us. Have also received a big container of cheese and was informed there are some expensive chocolates on the way.... I'll eat the cheese but the other stuff I just give away.

now those are nice!
fat chance of getting one of those after last night's game, though.
I hope we win by 30 tonight so I'm a "genius" again.
I've found my IQ varies significantly depending on whether we are winning or losing.
