I had a significant tear in my medial miniscus and very worn cartlidge (to the bone) in the back of my knees. He recommended I cut out the long distance (read marathon, 1/2 marathon) and move back to more shorter distance racing. I guess I could focus more on the 5k and 5 mile type of races. He said otherwise I will be back in 3-4 years for more surgery.

I trust this guy as he is the knee consultant for the US Ski team.

I start my rehab tomorrow and should be back to running in a few weeks.

I am in little pain except for a lot of back pain from my different gait and epidoural (sp) shot. I am basically off all pain medication and am back on "light duty" at home. No crutches and I am also allowed to drive again.

I can't believe how fast I recovered. I was in a great deal of pain on Sat and virtually pain free on Sunday.

Props to Greg, my sister, mom and Robin for all of their help over the weekend. It made my recovery much easier.

Great news! Just be sure to listen to the doctor.

Did he mention anything about other training? Just curious - if you wanted to keep long distance stuff in your life, perhaps you could do it on a bike, or in the pool.
