pseud0,
The layout is better. You are almost there... I mean what could be more of an endorsement in the IT Geek community than the RangerG Stamp of Approval?
Would it kill ya to try blue or green for a day rather than the red? Just to see what folks think...... If the vote is for red, I'll shut up....

It is starting to look a little better. I don't know if I like the articles option on the left side of the threads though.

Not real thrilled with the placement of the articles. Probably would be better if they were in a separate section of the forum accessed via a tab or hotlink. Combining the too makes things rather complicated.

I like it in some ways - I think it would encourage new users. But, it is somewhat of a hinderance to the forum junkies who come day in and day out and have seen the articles before, so they're just taking up space. Perhaps you could have a profile setting that hides articles? Either way, the forum should take up more than 50% of the screen.

or at the very least make that side more narrow so that the threads arent so hard to find.

articles on side should be more condensed... it's a sidebar, not a half/half thing
it should be perfectly fine when you nudge it over (think 1/4 of the screen).

Thanks, RangerG! I appreciate it! I must disappoint you – the blue is out, but definitely! The reason - It cannot fit into this current color scheme. The header is the main reason for it. The running track is more red/maroon related so the rest of the color scheme shall remain that way. However, I’ve tried to change these table heading backgrounds, just not to stand so much out. What do you think now?
Regarding Articles – The articles teaser on forum pages has been shrunken. I think it looks better now and that page focus more on forums then at articles. Generally, this article system works together with forums. When you write the article you may sort them by forum. Btw. is anyone interested to write articles??? We need people with writing skills. All interested can send me a PM with request for Article writing permissions!
Also, I’ve tried another topic layout look. I think the content is easier to read and it spares more place on the page??? What do you think about this one?

I like the way this page looks now. I can live with this...even with the Freddy/Jason bloodfest colors...
The header page is still a bit odd...the articles take up too much of the left side. They appear to be in more of a landscape format than a portrait format. If you can also format the right side so as to put some sort of border around each item such as this page has, I think you will have a winner.
Oh and about articles....I can write (with mega spell check), problem is running is just a means to an end. I'm a MMA Fighter for a few more weeks yet...then into the relaxed and safer world of sparing.

I hate to be the complainer, but I just still don't like it. The articles are annoying and the new big header for each poster is a big distraction to reading the posts. The front page is just much harder to sift through and see things than it was.
Why all the changes of stuff that was working well?
Oh well, I guess I'm obviously not one that likes change.
I'll take my negativity and leave now.

I don't mind the articles, but they do seem to be a bit big and not really about what "Running Forums" is/was about. Another thing that was alluded to by one of our owners is forum specific content. Riff Raff doesn't seem to be the place to have articles regarding a training plan. That content would be a better fit in "Beginners" or even "Mid Packers"

I agree about the articles on the side. They do seem a bit on the large part. But may I remind our readers at least they're not animated...
Color scheme needs a little tweaking. I'm sure there must be other colors in the palette that would work. Keep it up, its getting better.
BTW A very minor kind of nitpick... the photos on the upper right: They seem to be of "short" running events like the 100M and other track and field things. Nothing against Track and Field but, can you get some "long distance" drawings ? Most of us are in the long distance side of things.
Other than that its interesting to see how a site is changing.
