15th Tim Plum 5K/10K, Lake Forest IL

This was the third year we have taken part in this fun run/food donation for the local services in the area. Most important, there was a good amount of donated goods (as always). The fact we had a couple inches snow overnight made for treacherous footing for at least 75% of the course. Though the snow was the wet, sticky stuff that makes for spectacular scenery.

LC started out slow, and was more cautious than I was. A big part of that was she had a harder time with the footing, I think. She also had a problem with her glasses fogging up a lot. It was strange - some people were fogging, and others did not at all (I was in the latter). Her time was :37:32.38 - given the road conditions that was very, very good. And there were a lot of people that came in after her. thumbs up

All I wanted today was to not get injured, run pain-free, and have negative splits (no matter how slow). I am very happy to say all three got accomplished. No injuries - I kept weaving back and forth across the streets to hit the dry (or at least un-iced) spots. And there was no pain at all (or now, some two-plus hours after). The time - :29:50.67, with mile splits of 10:06.96, 9:54.38, and 9:27.72.

After the marathon, I needed to get in a race where I could feel good with my effort, so I could end the race year feeling positive. This was the race I did today. Mr. Green

P.S. - And we did get some nice commemorative coffee mugs for booty. Smile

"treacherous"? Sounds like my kind of race. Especially when you can trade booty for a coffee mug. Wink Good job by both of you!
