Posted: 08/24/05 - 08:14 Post subject: The annual Benoit, WI college freshman list
According to the Benoit College Mindset List, for college freshmen born in 1987:
— Liberace, Jackie Gleason, and Lee Marvin have always been dead.
— Heart-lung transplants have always been possible.
— Wayne Gretzky never played for Edmonton.
— Iran and Iraq have never been at war with each other.
— They’re more familiar with Greg Gumbel than with Bryant Gumbel.
— Voice mail has always been available.
— ‘Whatever’ is not part of a question
— They have always had the right to burn the flag.
— Bill Gates has always been worth at least a billion dollars.
— The Starship Enterprise has always looked dated.
— ‘Les Miserables’ has always been on stage.
— Snowboarding has always been a popular winter pastime.
— They do not remember “a kinder and gentler nation.”
— They never saw the shuttle Challenger fly.
— Black Americans have always been known as African-Americans.
— Tom Landry never coached the Cowboys.
— The Field of Dreams has always been drawing people to Iowa.
— They never saw a Howard Johnson’s with 28 ice cream flavors.
— Lyme disease has always been a concern in the woods.

This supports my theory of a declining IQ and lack of common sense in this country.
This is much like the Jay Lenno questions on the street....

Usually these shock and amaze me. But these are sort of suck ones. Or, I'm regressing, I'm not sure.

31? |
BR is 31, but whats the deal with HoJo?
And to further prove I was actually born in 1990 apparently...
who is lee marvin?
I only vaguely remember the first heart transplant
who cares who wayne gretsky played for, who cares about hockey? (although if asked I would have said the LA Kings, thank you Swingers)
The Iran/Iraq thing I get but I bet there are plenty of people my age who don't, and I only learned it in school, I don't remember it happening
Whose life is not better without Bryant in it?
Voicemail wasn't that significant an invention for me I guess, I only started using it with cell phones a couple years ago
'Whatever' really became abused with the movie "Clueless" which was around 1995, so, they should remember prior to that.
I haven't kept up with my flag burning rights and I fear the 18 year old who has
Is there anyone (or an entire generation) who can say "Oh that Billy Gates, I can remember when he sacked groceries to make ends meet..."
Star Trek ≠ cultural icon any generation should be proud of...I'm just saying
I know my parents saw Les Mis in the 80s, I guess thats when it came out based on this, I wouldn't have known otherwise though.
I think my dad contributed this one about Tom Landry.
Please tell me kids are not saying "Hang on, before we enter the woods is everyone properly protected against lyme disease??" I know I'm a wiser 9 years older don't think they are.
Legit ones:
Snowboarding
Kinder Gentler nation
Challenger
Field of Dreams (holy poo that movie is that old now?)

I remember Lee Marvin from "The Iceman Cometh", but more importantly, I knew of him because his was the palimony case that set precedent for many others to come. See, I DID learn things in my Business Law class.

Best regards,

P.S. (Ms. Jenn) The Chicago Bears have never had a good football team.
