It's been one of those days, I've been running all over town for various reasons, mostly halloween related. Fine. So I'm at the mall when my ADT security people call and tell me my house alarm is going off. I finish what I'm doing and hightail it home, wondering who broke into the house, what they took, and praying they didn't see my laptop! Also thinking about how embarassed I am because the house look like a hurricane hit it. Clothes, clean and dirty everywhere, mcdonald's from last night on the den floor, candy in the living room, not to mention the bathrooms and kitchen look like hell. It doesn't get like this often around here, but as I said, it's been one of those days. Home long enough to destroy it, not clean up...

Turns out that I didn't get the front door shut after taking Libby to the bus stop, so it swung open, thereby setting off the alarm. I freaked a bit because the motion detector had also been set off, but since nothing is missing (hell, who could tell to be honest--you know the po po thought the place had been ransacked at first!) I figure they set it off when walking in the den to check the place out.

So the wind played a trick on me. I've learned something very valuable today. No, not to close the front door Wink but to clean the house!! Mr. Green

LOL No, no, I mean embarassed because the po po would see the house. I knew they'd been dispatched, so I was just Embarassed that they'd see the house looking like this!!

A potential robbery and you worry about how messy the house is? Wow...

You could've played along and just said that someone trashed everything. To add insult to injury, they ate Mcdonalds in your home and left it there!

That is EXACTLY what my dad said when I called him and relayed the story!! The police were not here when I arrived (I was 40 minutes away mind you) and I was somewhat glad for that.

LOL I am working on it, really. I don't dare let John see how this place looked. He'd be just as mortified as I am, only he'd curse about it. Wink

I'd be pulling a broom out of my *ahem* if I complained about coming home to a dirty house. Shocked
