I think it was something like, "Spot coach a 1200 point lead, and then watch him shrug his shoulders in dismay, as week by week it slips away, and he is helpless to change it"
something along those lines.

Right up front I must admit: I watched only a few minutes of the penultimate (Yeah! good time to use that word!) show. I don't know nuthin' 'bout nuthin' as far as how the game was played nor do I know anything about the personalities of the contestants. But...
...what's the take of the gang here about the fact that Lillian was one of those voted off but permitted to return? Was this change in the game's rules known beforehand to all those tossed off the boat at the beginning of the show? Really, now, I don't know but it seems a little unfair that someone who was actually voted off could return and win the entire million dollars. I could understand it better if one of those voted off could return and win HALF of the prize but, huh?
If I remember correctly, didn't Lillian depart the show before it was even half finished? The reason I ask is this: does anyone think that bringing her back, and ostensibly the others, was a move by the producers to keep the ratings higher? Don't shoot! I'm only asking because...Lillian is from the same general vicinity as the feller from Northern Kentucky - can't remember his name but I can picture his face (Roger?). That would be the Greater Cincinnati area. Check the numbers - the Cincinnati area is one of, if not the absolute, top areas in the nation as far as viewership is concerned. With Lillian going out kinda early, wouldn't it behoove them to find a way to bring her (and the others as camouflage) back to the show?
Any thoughts?
(And for what it's worth, the portion of the segment I actually saw? I wondered why Lillian would choose to send off Johnny when it appeared kinda obvious that between the two of them?...she'd be chosen as the lesser of two evils. She'd said that she'd chosen the person whom she thought that she could beat...duh. Wrong!)

Just my opinion. And they weren't aware it was going to happen, it was a mid-season twist.

Then, the castoffs had to play the remaining survivors in order to get a chance to be voted back on, then when they did win they voted amongst themselves who among them would return. THEY decided on Lill and Burton, not the producers, but interesting point. Roger is my all time favorite survivor!! Such a great guy. They named an overpass of I-75 for him in Crittendon (Isn't that where he's from?) You had to cheer for him.
Finally, she mentioned she knew she probably wouldn't be picked regardless of who went with her to the final, and that she would rather Sandra, the mother/wife/working woman win than jerk/drunk/womanizer Johnny Fairplay, so she picked Sandra. Would she have had a better chance with Johnny? Yes definitely but I guess she didnt' see that and went the other way. This isn't the first season this has happened.

I would probably fall into this trap as well. Don't think I could even chance that a$$-munch winning.

As would I. It would be worth the $900K risk for me.
