Well I ran in the Jacksonville Track Club's 5 Mile cross country race in Middleburg Florida last night at the Ravine Goldfand Country Club. All I can say is I am totall disappointed in my time.

Split 1:7.35
Split 2: 9.22
Split 3: 5.13
Split 4: 11.38
Split 5: 6.23

The mile markers were not accurate! Yes it was hot (around 90 degrees at 7 pm) last night but I have run better in the middle of the day! I felt like garbage and my time stunk like a rotten egg. I don't know why since I felt good during the day. One person said the course is a little longer than last year but I feel like I was in better shape now than last year and I almost 40 seconds slower than last year. Oh well all I can do now is train harder for the Run for the Pies in June and try and hit my goal of breaking 20 for a 5K

I'll say they are not accurate. a 5 minute mile and an 11 minute mile. Wow.

Sorry you were disappointed. Sad

All I can say is that it was brutal last night. I have been training in that kind of heat for the past 2 weeks or so but my body got out there and just died. Especially between mile 2 and 3 where there is a hill that feels like it is a 60 degree angle and about 20 - 30 yards long. It felt like I was walking up it!

I am over it now and like I said I am just going to train harder and catch the 2 guys that I normally beat, who beat me last night.

I looked back at my log and it was 5 degrees cooler last year! Anyway I placed:
35 - 39 Age Group 9/27
Men Overall 58/241

I am pretty happy with my places just not my time. So now I have a new goal for next year to blow this course away!

You Floridians. 20 or 30 yds. doesn't make a hill, that's just a little bump.

you should be happy with these numbers....

sounds brutal tho - with all that heat and hills and miles staring you in the face. i'd say you did a great job considering.

BIG FAT to that! Cross country courses are usually pretty challenging, at least the ones around here are. Combine that with the weather and yowza....

That is probably the only hill in all of Florida!

Hey! looks like you placed well even if you weren't happy with your times.

That's friggin hot for a race. burning mad I bet the high humidity only made it worse. Well as least you finished in the top 10 of your age group. It must have given you motivation to do better!

Yes it was hot, humid, sticky and sweaty but the post race beers and the pool felt great!

Time for me to move on and get ready for my next race in less than a month.
