Couldn't it be said that all successful people are psychologically 'disturbed'? Doesn't it take a certain level of dementia to keep pushing? To not take no for an answer? To push the the mental and physical barriers?
There are so many behind the scenes stories of successful people and their strange 'bent' on life and being successful. Does such an extreme fear of failure necessarily dictate the one drive themselves forward to success?
I, for one, am willing to bet that 99% of those that have achieved monetary/social/physical 'successes' aren't quite 'right' between the ears.

I would have to agree. Look at Uta Pippig. Her drive was so intense that she pooped her pants during a marathon and kept on running to win. If that isn't wacky I don't know what is. Same has happened to many Ironman contestants..

I think I can agree with that. although for most people they are just psycho for certain aspects of life, and not for everything.
Perhaps they are twisted about work, but are fat and lazy when it comes to any other thing. I think very few are hard core for everything, and for those that are there is a disorder called... Obsessive Compulsive.

i think a lot of it is type a personality also
a desire to just push and succeed that cannot be taught
most runners/athletes are that way even the regular ones
most runners have the same mentality i believe it is just that some have better ability
