Stupid words! Don't get me started! Try explaining how phonics work with a word like "through", and you'll get a 5-year-old on the brink of madness.
Stupid word. Should be thru. Why do we need the o? And what about the g? And the zed?!
And silent E, which can serve a purpose in knowing how to pronounce something, but only for adults. Tell a little kid there's an E on there and yet you don't need to say it, and you'll get some blank looks, let me tell you!
And... oh, like I said... don't get me started!!  !
