So, I went back to my former hometown, and ran in the Cardinal 5K. The race that I originally concieved of, and sponsored as the race director the past two years.

The third annual Cardinal 5K.
Short version : 21:45 2nd in age group!

Long version...

I had no hopes at all...except to run the race and finish....my to call my training sporadic is to give it too much credit...it's actually pretty much non-existent at this point. Still....I wanted to do well...especially at the race that I designed/invented/created.

So, I tried to start out slow, but that didn't happen, crossed the first mile marker in 6:38. I thought, Whoah! slow down a little....and I did and it's a good thing too, because I was barely able to hold on at the end.

I finished I believe in the top 10 overall...10th or maybe 11th. And won the silver medal in my age group. (The guy who won was my college buddy Trav, he didn't come the first two years...if he woulda skipped today I would have won the GOLD! Wink )

Anyways...I'm thinking it's time to start some serious running training now. I'm moved. I've got no job this summer other than to watch the kids....I just ran undeer 22 minutes with little to no training...

So, I think I'm back on board.

Age group awards are the shizzle.

Way to represent at the race you brought into the world!

thanks all...

and my training is crap. I have 33 total miles in 2004. 6 of them have been 2 5K's. So I have 27 total training miles for the year.
