ok, now with the bike as my means of transportation i have been adding here and there. i have a toolless attached quick release bike rack/trunkpack, a headlight, under the seat tool pack, mounts for: water bottle, airpump, HRM and now the Garmin unit. I think the biggest headache about if the bike was stolen is getting all the additional gear for it replaced.

Do you park your bike outside when you're at work?

Take pictures/video of your bike and all the equipment.
Get the serial numbers of the pricier stuff and off of the bike itself.
Etch your name or last four of your ssn somewhere not visible--these things help.
You might even be able to get a special rider from your ins co. to cover your bike and equipment.

YES it's parked outside at work. least conccern is there at work since we have security AND no one even knows there is a bike rack. (most common question when i started was, "Where do you lock your bike up?"
I think my comment about the stollen bike was mis-understood. i was just referring to the time and effort to just get/put the mounts back on the bike. not too concerned about it being stolen. it is stored inside at home, in a garage in the corner at work. and most of the time not left outside more than a few hours at other places. most of them have security as well. Plus all the regualr hangout are pretty used to me and keep an extra lookout too.
