The reason you probably got the infection was because your immune system is compromised from the mono. You're susceptible to a lot more now than you would be if you weren't already sick.
DO NOT, and I am not kidding here, DO NOT push to get back before you're better or you'll end up being sick a lot longer than you want to. I have CFIDS, which is basically "permanent mono" which comes and goes depending on what's going on at that time, and during times when I pushed too hard it was weeks recovering. You can really do some serious damage to your body if you try to rush the recovery, so just relax and take it easy. You'll have plenty of time to get back to training.
And yes, Laur, to answer your question, in many cases the virus lies dormant in your system and can resurface years later in the form of what I've got. I had mono when I was 22. So did my roomie, and he has full-blown CFIDS too. It's nothing to mess with, and us type A's with the full schedule trying to do it all are prime targets for the disease. Take this as a message from your body and slow down before you are forced to permanently. We'll keep ya company til you're back on your feet!

Take all the rest you need Koby! Now is the time to read all the books you've been putting off or watch the movies you've always wanted to see. Just be careful and listen to your body when you do get back into a routine.

Do I need to update everyday?
Today I'm doing good. I can breath through my nose again (YEAHH!!!!). Itching to get out and run, but I am holding off. I will respect the doctor's orders and not run for another week. Instead, I'm looking into either getting my truck repaired or ordering new motorcycle tires.
Overall, my body has handled this mono thing really well. My only bad day was Wednesday when I had to take a nap every few hours. I had a few days that I was just tired before that. These last 2 days have been fine, no sign of fatigue. I've only missed 3 classes (one was due to the first doctor visit). My understanding is that most college students end up missing 2 weeks of classes.
As for sleeping. I am sleeping when I get tired. I try to get 9 or 10 hours of sleep right now. For eating, when I get hungry, I eat. Like right now, I'm getting ready to open an applesauce cup for a snack.
