Periodically I get an e-mail from an author or publishing house saying they have read a review I wrote on Amazon.com and perhaps I would like to read this new book that is coming out. Most of the time they only recommend that I read the book, not that they are offering me a free copy. Yesterday I was offered a copy of a history book, something about the British Navy. Even better, an author e-mailed me and asked me to read his new book. I wrote back saying that unfortunately my library does not own a copy of the book so I won't be able to read it, but good luck with his book. I then asked if he would be willing to provide me with a reviewers copy. And, he is! Awesome! Two free books in one day!

I so mooched that second book. Razz

Pug that is pretty cool. What is the book about? You said historical, but fiction or non? What is the title?

To Rule the Waves: How the British Navy Shaped the Modern World
Peacemaker

The first is non-fiction, the second is a techno-thriller.

You'll have a while to wait. I still haven't finished the Alexander Hamilton bio from all those months ago. Razz I'm looking forward to it, though.

I had no idea you wrote reviews for places other than RR. I think that's great b/c you do a really good job of it and it's something you obviously enjoy.

I appreciate that, Go. I started with Amazon a few years ago.

In a review I posted here, Pff noted:
