What I don't get is when I was in HS we had some cops come talk to us about drinking/driving. I asked why they didn't stake themselves outside of bars where drunk drivers are likely to be. The cops told me that was considered harrassment to the establishment. How is this not harrassment?

/I can see both sides of this issue very clearly and both have strong points for being correct.

Part of me is cheered and happy to see something being done finally about drinking/driving.

Part of me is concerned about privacy. When do they get our neighbors to start tattling on us a la 1984?

Just make sure he's hot and has those black boots. I'll even let them shave my hair. Vendetta? anyone? anyone?

Just so you know: there was a plan afoot in 2002 to start a "TIPS" program involving your neighbors, letter carriers, meter readers, pizza delivery people, everyone and anyone out there. It was the brainchild of John Ashcroft dauntless defender of the Bill of Rights. There was so much bipartisan screaming about this that it was dropped.

Bear in kind that the Government is still doing lots of "Data Mining" in these counterterrorism efforts. Although the information used is not "restricted", with enough little bits and pieces they can make some assumptions. Which would lead them to do some checking which would lead them to, and so on

Not to mention, a fine singer!!

But, in elections for U.S. Senator, not much good when running against dead men.

Just goes to show you how well liked and respected he was in his own state. Now I'm just wondering what criteria was used to determine he was the perfect person for the AG job.

Historical factoid: Check out the story behind the "Palmer Raids" of WW I. Amazing paralells to today even after 88 years.
