So Miss Steph is on the sponsorship committe for the Athens to Atlanta inline skate race. she asked me to write a testimonial about the Garmin Products. tell me what you think.
Dear Garmin,
I would like to thank you for the newest line of personal GPS systems you have released the ForeRunner/Trek. Back in the mid-1990's i had seen a gentleman inline skating in a skate tour of Washington, DC and he was using a GPS. This was a large clunky one more than likeley used for his boat. He was using a back pack to carry the overgrown battery required to power it. At that time I knew that this was going to be something to look at for improving and miniaturization as well become more affordable in time. I spent 3 years researching, companies, models, ease of use. In 1999 I purchased an E-trek.
Being an avid inline skater for recreation and racing I had an idea of what I needed. I had tried the cyclo-style computers for skates but it was limited to funstion and discrepancies. So I looked at the GPS systems. I travel, this is great to "mark" the hotel. I needed MPH, I needed, small. The early E-Trek fit the bill almost perfectly. After I started using one the other serious skaters in the team asked me, "What it was?", What does it tell you?" and "How do I use it in my training." Soon there were 4 others being used on the team and this was great in the fact that each E-Trek was in a different ability group. After three years my E-trek died. It was replaced with the Geko-201. I looked yet again at several manufacturers and models and had decided that you still made the best model that was out there for my purpose. I found a cell phone case that if fit nicely into and used it in all modes of training and racing. I now cross-train a lot and I run now too. This is how I became introduced to the Forerunner 201. I can honestly tell you that with in four hours of seeing this on an internet running forum I had researched, loved and ordered it. I have never been happier in any purchase regarding my training. Wiith this and my heartrate monitor it is like a high performace sports car, I can see speed, effort and see the increase or decrease in efficiency. It was vital in my last skating race as a team-mate and I were racing in tandem to see when the pace slowed and we should switch the lead position, allowing us both to place in our age group. Several individuals inquired about it. Within a week I am recieiving e-mails about how they too are purchasing the Garmin ForeRunner 201.
Please keep up the great efforts in research, product develpment, I am looking forward to your next product line.
Sincerely,
Chuck Opperman
