I'm trying to organize an event for our Sunday School class. Rock climbing sounded rather inexpensive and fun.

It's hard. Takes a lot of finger and arm strength. Usually not suitable for old people.

It is a lot of fun, however be forwarned that some of the adults will have to pay for a training class to learn how to tie the correct safety knot.

I use a figure eight follow thru with a double half hitch. Also insist on a Petzel Grigri and not a ladder rack, an "8" or a "tuber".

Very young children are better in a full harness rather than in only a seat harness as they feel more secure.

It would be best if you have a large group to schedule with the gym and rent a staff memeber to help with the group.

Just my two cents...

I'd check it out for a bouldering section for those for fear of heights could still participate.

depending on the age you might want to make sure that they have enough harnesses for juveniles.

i loved it when i did it.
