Anyone affiliated with this organization? I'm attending a meeting tonight to find out more information regarding this...
The skinny is....you collect enough pledges and they'll pay for everything and send you to a race.
The next race is the Disney 1/2 marathon on January 12th. I'm just wondering how much money they're going to ask for?
I'll let you know tomorrow, how it goes!

I'm not sure how much the Leukemia society asks for, but I went to a Joints In Motion meeting two years ago. ( wanted to run Hawaii) and I think it was $3k or $7k (not sure which one). I think that it's great that people raise the money and all, but I could not do it. I run so many races that to ask people for money at this point would just not work out. At least from people in my family. Now, if I thought I could get a business to sponsor me for half of it, I might give it a shot.

That's a buttload of money! I'm thinking if they give me a number like $1,500 I'll be able to do it...anything over, forget about it.
I do think my company may contribute though so we'll see....

A friend of mine did St. Anthony's triathlon this April and I think it was $3000. I am pretty sure Icedog, who is running Dublin with Fred's Team for cancer research, said his goal was that much or $3500. It's a lot, but for a worthy cause. I want to do one after I run my first marathon, I'll put enough pressure on myself training without the pressure of fund raising too!! But I am definitely going to do one. Maybe Dublin next year.
Let us know what you find out.

The meeting went well...$3,600 was the goal so I'm not going to do this one. When the Honolulu or the Alaskan marathon come up I'm going to seriously look into it. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get that kind of money through work/family and friends....
