Posted: 06/11/03 - 10:59 Post subject: Tall Buildings
My office is on the second floor of a 2-story building.
I've been to the top floor of the USX Building in Pittsburgh (67th floor?). At Pitt we had the Cathedral of Learning (42 floors). My department's office was on the 13th floor <cue Twilight Zone music>.
Intended to go the the John Hancock building or Sears Tower in Chicago last year but when I had time to do it was uninspired. I mean, who cares how tall a building is?
At hotels, I'm conscious of what floor my room is on. Only because I heard somewhere that fire ladders only go to the 7th floor. Some people that I work with won't sleep on a floor higher than that. I'll sleep wherever the comfy bed is (but I always check to know where the fire exit is).
Just rambling a little.

I am not a big fan of going any higher. I work on the first floor and have always worked on the first floor. When I go into a building with higher floors I always know the quickest way to the fire exits.

I'm not a big fan of heights but since I'm in charge of roof maintenance around here I have to get over this fact. Our tallest building is around 70 ft. high and it's quite the ladder climb to get there. The view is tremendous though - that is if you like to see a run down former industrial city in every direction you look.....

I guess I never thought about it, but now that I do I rememeber that two jobs ago we were on the top (26th) floor and our fire exit was to go on the roof!!! That freaked me out a bit at the time.

No problem here.
My office area is the blue building on the lower right
the hole in the ground is the construction of the new building.

Well, in my old classroom, I was on the second floor of a two story building.
My new room, is an office, basically in the basement of the elementary school. (I was told I could play my radio at a reasonable level)
However, I'll be spending most of my time in the gymnasium.
I guess I've never worked in a tall building, but I guess it never seems to bother me.

Where's the Califoornians? When I was out there, the 16th floor restaurant gave me motion sickness. Being "earthquake proof" it sits on huge springs, rockers, or jell-o, I'm not sure. Anyway, it made this backwoods boy bite one back.
