I read that not too long ago. I had been following her training a little. I'm not surprised that she's a no-go for IM. I didn't agree with some of how she was training and eating.
But I'm pleased she is dedicated to doing the sprint & olympic tris. The IM was too much, too soon - evidenced by the injuries.

I don't know anything about the prior history on this lady, but it sounds like her heart wasn't in it from the start. I could never train for IM, but I respect the hell out of people who can.

I don't know anything about her either, but the excuses in her article were pretty lame. My friend used to (live in VT now) drive from Green Bay, Wi after teaching on a Friday and drive down to somewhere in IA for a 1/2 ironman on a Saturday. Get in his car (some years his motorcycle), drive to OH for a half ironman on Sunday. He usually got a few hours sleep before the race started. He did this several years. I never heard him complain about bad performances due to lack of sleep......he knew he'd have a lack of sleep!!!
She knew she had a 6 1/2 hour drive....why wouldn't she stop for a pee? lame. I drove 6 hours to Grandma's.....I forgot to use the dehydration as an excuse for not breaking 3 hours. i did, however have a terrible kink in my neck!!!

The article is more suited as a blog entry. So she discovered something about herself... why should I care?

She should have known better than to try an IM if she could only pull out a marathon in the high 6 hr. range and couldn't finish the swim in a half IM.

Wanting to do an IM and training for an IM are two different things.
Shoot, I would like to do an IM. However, I would have to learn to swim and then ride a bike well. Could I do it with my current job in the next year? No.

As is, to "do" an IM and "race" an IM.

Those are some way intensely intense dudes over there. I love the way they all include their marathon in the middle of a sentence (2:32) no matter what they're talking about.
And no, that's not my marathon time. I'm waaaay faster than that.
