Posted: 11/26/04 - 17:27 Post subject: THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE IS BANNED IN A CAL SCHOOL
Part of the story is right here
I have read through this mess, courtesy of Neal Boortz, and think that the last straw is about to be placed somewhere.
No Bibles, fine. No pledge, no under God...I'll hold my breath and keep my peace.
But the friggen DofI is what this country was founded on for crying out loud. It's not like they are putting a velvet Jesus in each room, the teacher, according the the article, has also taught on Ramadaan and Quanza, and is not spouting any one religion.
When will enough be too friggen much?

Whether the story has credibility or not, if you want people to discuss it, it would be great if you could cite a source that didn't make reference to "Pelosi-land." To me, that says your source is completely biased and the point it's making becomes a lot more suspect. I'd like to know more about this but not from someone like Boortz. (You don't see a lot of Limbaugh or Michael Moore on this forum, either.)
Thanks.

Boortz is just were I found the links. WorldNet Daily, etc., all slant to the right, as other nedia does to the left.
My original thoughts on this were that even if there is a sniff of truth in what is written, a clear a definate attack is being made on the moral fabric of this country, and on the principles set forth by the founders of our nation.
The links are provided as a starting point. I am still compiling my own research on this, and will post more later.

Here is a link to the local newspaper that covered the story. Sounds to me like maybe there is more to this story.

This seems like an attempt at court baiting to me. The teacher certainly had some valid points, but then overstepped in an effort to make news and/or get a court hearing on this based on his own views.
Taking a quote from a Founding Father's private diary that states that Christianity is the best religion? And isolating that one quote? It sounds like he pushed it just far enough to get a rebuke that would push it into the court system and the media.
Why, isn't that sort of a 'liberal' tactic?!

Williams said he thinks society has become hypersensitive to any reference of Christianity in the public arena, especially schools. He said he has taught students about Ramadan and Kwanzaa and was applauded for those lessons.
"People are like, 'Oh good, that's diversity,'" he said. "As soon as Christianity involved, it's separation of church and state."
What I had tried to convey earlier I finally found in the article. This seems to be the cruxt of the matter, and the sticking point.
In an effort to appear diverse, the have completely wiped out any reference to christianity. Others have fought this as well, including some other California middle schools, where students were expected to pray, fast, and kneel for a three week period while learning about Islam, and studying the Koran(sp)...try that with a King James Version and see what happens.
