are you kidding??? I love this place! I walk by there all the time! Sometimes I even look in the window. Now as far as buying anything there..... way too expensive! and i don't think I'd look good in anything they have there!

A snooty exclusive clothing store that only someone with RR buying power can get in.

Talbots is a women's clothing store - i think it is mainly down south. in fact when i lived in NC, EVERYONE shopped there. we actually have a store in our mall here which surprises me. i usually go in with my running clothes on and a cup of coffee in my hand. they tremble at the sight of me.
all the saleswomen wear bifocals with pickin' chains and make you feel as big as an ameoba when you enter. Plus, their clothes are old preppy. country club crap. plaid to the max. nothing worse than an aging Muffy. why do i go in that place????
i'm longing to puke in there just to see the looks on their faces.

We have one of those in a mall by my house and I don't even bother with it. My sister loves the place-she's a teacher and all their clothes remind me of teacher clothes.
I love Ann Taylor but they always ignore me when I go in there to shop. I love shopping in sweats! So I guess if I don't look like them I can't dress like them?

I don't mind that kind of attitude in a retail store so much......but it irks me at restaurants......if we sat down and ordered....we're buying and can afford it....if you treat me like crap.....you are going to fulfill your expectations. Poor service-low tip. We spent a weekend in Minneapolis a few months ago and the waiter was extremely rude....ignored us completely. I tried to convince my husband to NOT tip---it was THAT bad!!!!!

Better yet RR, just go on a nice long run, then visit the store all stinky and sweaty. Make sure you require a lot of customer assistance, and then when you feel like you have thoroughly wasted their time leave without buying anything.

This is too funny - I almost said that it's a store for substitute teachers but I didn't want to offend anyone. Obviously I'm not the only one who thinks so...
I have to say, I never get treated badly in any of these stores. I think it's different out here. Southern California is so relaxed that you never know if the guy in a Hawaiian shirt and flip flops is the one who owns the 80-foot yacht.
Of course there are people who have money and dress like it... but there's others who don't, so clothing is less a status symbol than it is in other places.
Just a theory.
