Swimmer sprinter on distance?

I have been swimming seriously for a quite some time. I entered competitive world and won several medals some two years ago. Sprinting is my strongest point. However, I would like to try swimming longer distances. I suppose that I would need to change my workouts. What do you think about swimmer sprinter on distance?

Well, you have a quality of a competitive swimmer. You excelled in sprint disciplines. You are worried if you will make it on longer distances. The truth is that distance swimming requires endurance and somewhat different training strategy. But essentially it is not that much different. If you have managed to win short distances I am sure that you will become very good at this discipline too.
