certainly does have some interesting cases going on. There's the Cheney energy issue, the Guantanamo detainees, school prayer. All highly political. Two things I think are interesting. One is that Theodore Olsen (who is the Solicitor General) is trying the Guantanamo case. For those who don't know, he lost his wife on 9/11, and I wonder if that wouldn't be a conflict of interest.
Secondly, the Cheney energy issue could wind up having repercussions on the election. Two courts have said Cheney has to give up information on findings of an energy task force (the same as Hillary had to on health task force some years ago) and he hasn't done it, citing an executive privilege. If he's forced by the Supremes to do it, it could happen just before the election. Scalia, although he's friends with Cheney, maintains he will be impartial and isn't recusing himself.
So it will be interesting to watch all this unfold. Olsen certainly has his work cut out for him.

I'm glad someone finds the SC interesting. I try, and try, but the old foggies just bore me to death. I know I should be a much better citizen and pay more attention, but I don't. Maybe I'll just PM you when I need info! That sounds much more entertaining.

Well, I thought it was interesting before, but now in class we spend a lot of time talking about the subtext of cases. In lots of cases I read, there's a running undercurrent between, say, Scalia and Brennan. Since some of the justices from those are still on the court today it's piqued my interest even more.

But, eventually Hillary won, and the court found in her favor. After her Health Task Force had been disbanded.
I watched Nightline last night.
