Attention, McHenry County Conservation District:

When you post a map of a trail on your website, it would help if you actually had a trail there. Had a perfectly straight-line path planned, from Marengo to Huntley - about nine miles, so out and back, voila, 18 miles.

Well, the trail, very nice compacted sand, goes all of two and a half miles to Union. So I only get about five miles in, and have to search elsewhere for the rest of the miles. Fall back on the Prairie Path where I just got the extra miles in. I avoided the heat (low 80's), but really humid - haze, t-storm watches and junk (experienced the rain - nice and lightning - not nice, but missed out on the hail). Slow pace, but in the window for the training schedule, and I'm still PO'd about that first part.

18.165 miles, 2:58:20.73 (9:49.09).

I just read Kimba's ultra report and have no business complaining about the heat...

6 sluggish miles, part trail and road.

My version of bad water – run home from church.

Took my 45 oz camel bak – should have taken the 64 or the 100.

Ran out of water. Wife was 30 minutes late checking on me had no water. WTH! So I bagged it at 8 miles
