Dan and I ran the Pumpkin Chase 5K Relay this afternoon. This was a fantastic, challenging course. We started out on pavement and soon turned into a wooded area that led to trails. The trail was nice. Well groomed, just a few roots got in my way, and then out again to only a few steep but mostly sloping hills. Any hill is a challenge for me.
The 10K and half marathon course made the 5K course look like child's play. Steep hills all the way to the end in both woods and on pavement. These people were really getting a workout.
My pace was steady and even at 8:21 throughout the race, very similar to the Akron pace, and Dan finished his race in 23:00 which is slower for him but the hills and trails made the course rather challenging.
Nice turn out. The half marathon winner finsished in 1:16.
