Is anyone else bothered that Baseball tolerates steroid use and has no policy. The Player's Association is against any kind of testing or ban.

As a baseball fan and parent, the PA's stance disturbs me.

I think it's a crock of crap. If you look at Barry Bond's upper body size over the years it sure appears to me he had some help getting that big.

As a rule of thumb, darn near all unions are against drug-testing, not just professional athletes.

No, not really. Although I agree that it's troublesome, it's not what has made me less likely to go to a professional ballgame.

Baseball's biggest problem isn't the use of steroids. It seems to be a case of the Have's vs. the Have Nots. Combine that with how much MLB has expanded and you're getting a lot of mediocre teams and games played.

But steroid use is a problem. It needs to be addressed. If they're not going to get to it soon, they should un-juice the ball. Or, better yet, raise the mound back up to the old level. That would be a great equalizer.

And there's one more thing that could be done to bring back my interest in the game: create meaningful punishment for fighting, especially for those who are offended by inside pitches, so much so that they feel that have to charge the mound. Anyone seen When It Was A Game III? Future Hall of Fame pitchers would dust future Hall of Fame batters and there was no melee. And back then? If you hit a home run and stood just outside the batter's box to admire it, ala Barry Bonds, et al, you could expect chin music the next time you came to the plate.

Yes, MLB has problems and steroid use is a big one but solving that first isn't likely to get me to pay for a ticket.

I stopped caring about MLB after the strike. I used to absolutely love the game, but even Little League gives me the willys now.

I think the "ostrich approach" has been taken far too long. But does anyone think MLB really cares if the players are juiced?

Which strike? Mr. Green Same here...the last strike really put me off.

Of course, playing an All-Star game to a tie didn't help...

Players juiced...balls juiced...bats corked...a Commissioner (hired by the owners) who sits on his hands (see: "ostrich approach" above) and does very little to better the game...repeat drug abusers permitted to continue in the game...Baseball Fever: catch it!

Unfortunately, there are too many who are immune now.

In almost every other sport save for body building the use of steroids and other performace enhancing drugs is banned. In this posters opinon baseball being soft on steroid use encourages cheating and it sends a very bad message to America's youth.

You want to know what should happen to baseball.

Fans should stop going to games, until they get their house in order.

I am of the personal belief, that they should tear down the whole system, and start all over again.

Their Union is too strong, teams sell off players every year once they are out of the playoff race, steroid use is prevalent.

This system is not good. They need to start over. They need to look at the NFL and see how a successful league is run.

That's the reality of it, but not inside MLB, I'm talking about the country as a whole. There's a handful of big cities with the influence to create untold fortunes for themselves and select players/owners whether it be with public financed stadiums or outrageous ticket sales or unfathomable media contracts.

It's all about the money. And it'll always be about the money. If it was favorable for there to be clean players, then they'd do it. But as long as the teams with the biggest payrolls in the biggest cities are still able to sell seats at the biggest ticket prices, nothing is going to change.

It's not really up to America... it's up to NYY fans or BOS fans or LA fans. And you ever think that's gonna happen?..... not.

The last strike jaded me, too. Once a year we travel to see my Orioles at Camden Yards, and a few times we see The Yankees in Da Bronx. Other than that, AA ball where the players actually try their best in hopes of moving up.

Cappy, 2 words: Trenton Thunder. Cheap tickets, cheap food. If you haven't been, take the kids. They'll LOVE it. Added bonus: as a Yankees affiliate, you can see rehab players. Last year Jeter was there, and a couple others.

Akron Aero's here - Cleveland Indians farm team! Love that AA ball. Cheap seats and not a bad seat in the place. Mucho chances for foul balls and seeing the guys rehabbing is an added bonus. We got to see CC Sabathia pitch there a few times before he made the bigs. Frickin' hot dogs and beers are still waaaaaay overpriced though.

It's true. Minor league baseball is a great value. Also, they are family friendly. Lots of promotions and (sometimes) that'll get the kids down on the field.

I think it's this as well.
