When it comes to Rose I guess I'm a bit more lenient. I tend to think that if he didnt shave points or alter a games outcome then it wasn't so bad. I think the policy is a bit harshly written, though I can understand why.

Aye, but there's the rub, Sheldon. That's the most insidious part of the whole steroids problem--who was juiced and who wasn't? They caught Palmiero but what about Bonds? McGwire? A host of others. Just look at the numbers of players of late who achieve stats each year that only the select cream of the crop of all-timers used to put up in the 40s through 70s. I think that so many of them have squeaked by using illegal substances and we'll never know who.

Not that those caught shouldn't be punished or excluded, but the whole thing is just so tainted now.
