Posted: 09/01/05 - 08:03 Post subject: Starting over......what would you do?
I already post this "over there"...but it is thought provoking:
Imagine being dropped off at a sports stadium by a bus after evacutating your home.
If you had one bag of stuff that you could have carried off, what would be in it?
You have a credit card with you, but you have to be very careful to make your limit stretch for an undetermined amount of time. What supplies would you need to get started?
If you couldn't go back home for weeks or months, and your house was destroyed anyway, what would you do?

I have some military papers that I would want to take with me. (They involve my military pension and things happen). What else can you do ? How do you bring a lifetime of memories with you ?
Probably move to another area. Working for the USPS, I can transfer anywhere after doing the appropriate paperwork.
I would be very careful with my $$. Obviously I would need to purchase new home items but as a temporary measure not very expensive stuff. Having homeowner's insurance helps.

All stuff for the baby - nothin' but. I'm sure I can live in some dirty clothes for a while, but I can't imagine my baby going without diapers, food, water, clean clothes, ....
That's where my heart aches for these people. I'm sure that the adults are having a difficult time trying to comprehend what's happened, but they have experience and more resiliancy than the children.
Today's Globe and Mail had a photo of a woman holding her 7 week old baby waiting for emergency supplies. Damn near started to cry right there at the bus stop.

Find a liquor store.
After I sober up, I buy a bike and just go ride.

Not a bad plan, not at all. You would likely see me behind you.

I would settle into a new area and get a new job.
I'm very fortuneate in my career field, there is a shortage of pharmacists.

I'd take every bit of survival related gear I could carry and go live in a cave.

You'd have to change your log-in to RobpOsama.
