Posted: 06/28/05 - 16:12 Post subject: Starting my Alaska fishing job, but still want to run!
Ever since I first ran the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Alaska two years ago, I’ve been dying to go back! Now, I’ve finally got my chance, landing a fishing job right in the middle of summer salmon troll season! I cannot wait! I figured I can also get back into running while I'm there, hopefully... Unfortunately, I happen to be missing every single one of my immediate family’s birthdays, including my soon-to-be 7 year old nephew’s. I feel awful, and fully intend to call, but... I probably won’t be getting a land line, so no long distance carrier, and my cell phone also is on the blink... I thought maybe of calling from a phone booth since I don’t even know where I’ll be half the time, on the water or whatever... I would just send emails, but I feel that’s so impersonal, and besides, my nephew would be way more into a phone call. Am I going to have to keep rolls of quarters in my pocket every time I want to call home?

Cool on the job! I hope it works out for you--long hours, hard work, good pay!
And as for calling home: A card will do, before you go, put it in the mail--you can write a lot. Maybe right now he won't understand it all, but when he looks back and reads it it will mean more. Maybe even enclose a pic of the two of you together.

You can have the Honda, as long as I get the Bianchi, and you get the Trek. I already dibsed Rob's four wheeler though.
