Great day to have a race with nice warm sunny weather (50 degrees at the start) and beautiful views of the ocean. I was hoping to hit 19 for this one but ended up with a time of 20:02. Could have gotten under 20 if not for my HRM: the strap was on the ground and I had to rush back and get it..losing a few seconds down there. Overall it was an "OK" race though I was bit disappointed that I didnt hit 19..Oh well there's always a next time. I think it was still technically a pr though (from 20:22- the 19:44 pr last fall on my picture profile is doubtful since the course that I ran on was not measured accurately). At least I'm seeing some promising results after 6 weeks of training with periodization and more speedwork and volume. Looks like an 18-18:30 may be possible by the end of this year with consistent training..
Mile 1: Started out slow at first due to a heavily congested start and a hill at the beginning..The course started to get faster with the downhill towards the end of the first mile. Split: 6:30
Miles 2-3: Mostly flat and fast..No markers were available for miles 2 and 3 so splits were unavailable. Overall ran strong except for a hint of lactic acid near the end.
Overall and age group results will be posted sometime tomorrow or Monday on the web so stayed tuned...
Next race will be a 10k in about 2 week's time
Results
Overall: 81/296
Gun Time: 20:08 (6 seconds difference from watch time)
Age group (M20-34)
24/38
Overall quite a competitive race with about 80 people finishing sub 20 or better and 10 people finishing within the 15 min range

Good job,and what a great sounding race. I'd love to be able to look at the ocean. Glad the training is paying off.

Nice job Tim. Sucks about the strap... that's definitely a sub 20 in my mind. Keep up the good training!
