Has anyone tried this herb, or heard anything about it? I was thinking about trying it out, but wanted to ask what others have experienced before buying it.

I remember a John Stosell or one of those news program type stories on how St Johns Wort when combined with other drugs can cause problems. And some of the cases, of course, were scary. So you might want to check with the pharmacist if you take other meds or supplements.
Here's one webpage I was able to surf up...

Thanks, John! A website I went to said St John's Wort relieved the emotional PMS symptoms, so I thought, wow, I'll give that a try. Reading the page you linked me to shed some light on the herb. I need to do some more research, or maybe just go ahead and talk to the doctor.

This was from a PowerPoint presentation I did. Are you looking to relieve just the emotional parts of PMS? You might want to look up oil of primrose also. I just gave a lecture to a women's group on herbs and now I can't find my notes.

JOHN! LOL!!!!!!! If you could make a brownie that relieved emotiona PMSing, you'd be a billion air. AND we wouldn't need to kick our SO's shins (for the heck of it) on our way into the kitchen for some more chocolate.

Oil of evening primrose. The seeds contain an oil which has a high content of GLA (gammo-linoleic acid-which is an essential fatty acid)
FFA's cannot be manufactured by the body, so must be provided by the diet.
USES: PMS-mood changes, fluid retention, breast tenderness
Heart disease: GLA has cholesterol lowering ability.
No big side effects with this herb.
Back to St John's Wort. Another drug that they intect with with are oral contraceptives. There have been documented cases in Germany of decreased efficicay of St John's wort with OCP's.
Back to the brownies. Bake a little St John's wort and Oil of Primrose in them, and I'll eat them!!!
