Colin by today has decided what to spend his money on. After consulting with a few trusted advisors, he decides he wants a trampoline. He finds one he can afford at Sam’s, roughly the same size as the surface of the moon. So, I take him to Sam’s and after looking aisle after aisle, imagine my disappointment that there are no trampolines left. Only the safety barriers are left. Anyhow, on our way out, I tell him to ask customer service. (sometimes I’m so stupid I wonder how I dress myself) Customer service, for once living up to its name, searches the entire store and finds a pallet of them by the tampons and paper plates and left over Easter baskets. And let me tell you, when the box says “Two Man lift team” it does not mean “Mother/Son lift team”. No matter what. So, we get the trampoline on the cart. And I’m thinking to myself, exhibiting astounding prescience, if it is this hard in the store what about at home??? On top of the trampoline goes the requisite safety net. Only marginally lighter than the trampoline. We get it paid for, out the door and to the Subaru. Here the Mother/Son lift team shines. Shines so brightly that a guy (prodded on by his wife we think) stops to help us get it into the car. The whole while he’s praising Subarus to the heavens. I’m thinking, “screw the Subaru, we could use a Dodge truck right now”. We get the trampoline in, unpack the safety netting and its attending detritus and get it situated in the back. Colin goes to dispose of the box and then we go home. Surprisingly, Colin wants to build it right away. So, we take it to the back in pieces and parts like some freak trampoline vultures. Amazingly, it takes us under an hour to put together and it looks relatively stable. The safety net goes on tomorrow because I just can’t bend my fingers anymore. Or my back. Or my legs. So, now my day has drawn to a close and I am very grateful

So cool!
This sounds like great fun and Colin will always remember the efforts put into getting him that trampoline. He'll never look at them the same.
Memories.

I think you're right. I think he'll already appreciate it more because he paid for it and helped put it together. We laughed so much today. It will always be great memories for me, especially. I just need to think about those good times when he gets that plaster cast...
And I've already been jumping!

Plaster cast...LOL.
Those will be battle scars to talk about 20 years from now.
Colin is one lucky boy! He'll probably always remember that it is best to own a pick up truck in times like that as well.

Sounds fun I'd love to try that. Our friends have one but I've never been allowed to try it. Something about something getting broken or blood.

I broke my cousin's nose on one of those, playing crack the egg. I was 21 when that happened.
And I am so with you on having to take something out of the box after you buy it and take it to where it needs to be in pieces. I'm all kinds of strong, but I cannot lift those huge boxes that my bookcases come in, or that my desk came in, etc. You should have seen us (Libby and I) getting the chest freezer upstairs. Dad told me that you should not tip a freezer over, so we didn't do it end over end (Like we did with our 35" tv--also big fun)... just reaffirms that Libby needs to Bowflex more. Or I do!!!
Sounds like it was a great bonding thing for you two. Just be safe on that bone breaker!!!
