Posted: 12/16/04 - 14:18 Post subject: Special evening: Father Daughter Bonding Updated !!!
Last night I showed my daughter how to use the sewing machine. She wanted to learn to use it so she could make a couple of presents for he buddies. Very nice bonding experience - amazingly enough, no screaming or yelling took place.
I had a good time remembering how I used to sew the patches on her GS uniform. One time the moms commented on how well the patches were sewn on she proudly replied: "My daddy sewed these on".

Nothing sweeter than daddies hanging out with their girlies. I still enjoy hanging out with my Dad.

I had my little girl unload the dishwasher, then make her bed and then help me get stuff back up into the attic.

you want to bond with your kids? let me tell you how great it is to make music with your kids. it is incredible. 2 weeks ago my son played his guitar in church and i played piano along with him. we did an awesome jazz version of "O little Town of Bethlehem" in 5/4 time.
this sunday my daughter and I will be doing a French horn/Organ duet that has a lot of meter changes and tricky rhythms. 9/8 12/8 6/8 That is going to be so much fun.

Tonight's bond:
I blew dry and brushed her hair.
I am not allowed to style it, because apparently I suck at ponytail's.

I loved hanging out with my Dad. He was the only one patient and gentle enough to get tangles out of my hair (I had long hair that tangled really easy). We did woodworking projects together for Christmas every year for a long time. My mom always asked for something we made. My dad also taught me how to thow a football, baseball, softball, and basketball. (I was kind of a tomboy). Father-Daughter time rocks.

Believe it or not, we just bought a Chevy Aveo for our daughter.
Now we have to remove the kick @$$ Stereo and speakers from the Geo Metro before turning it in on Tuesday. Guess what we're doing this AM when the Daughter wakes up ?

Cool, father-daughter car stuff. I used to "help" my Dad work on the cars. Until he would say, "I think I hear your mother calling, can you go check and see what she wants". My mom would then find something else to do. I guess I asked too many questions. At least I know what most of the tools are called and look like (I used to get tools for him from the tool box).
