......Do you believe in the Sports Illustraded cover curse??
"... a devout superstition that being on the cover of Sports Illustrated is the kiss of death for your favorite team or athlete."
According to SI’s own researchers, 37 percent of the time bad luck of some sort strikes a person or a team within two weeks of a cover appearance. Almost 12 percent suffered injury or death.
I don't believe in a curse - I think the idea of a curse illustrates a "regression to the mean" - or - athletes/teams that get hot eventually get cold.
Regardless, I'm dismayed at the 2/16 SI cover
Tonight the Hawks play Dayton - Even though the line is 14.5, this will be their last 'test' before the tournament.

The SI cover curse is interesting...
I remember hearing about this as far back as 15 years ago.
There are some pretty good stories there.
(someone help me with a link! I'm lazy, cause I'm going home in 1.5 hours)

Weren't the Philly Eagles on the cover before Carolina beat them? I think one of the Panthers was on the cover right before the Super Bowl.
As a fan, I do believe in the curse. But then again, it's a weekly mag, no? With 52 coming out a year, you can't help but have that stuff going on. So it's just coincidence.
But I'm not one to let rationality or common sense do my thinking for me.

I choose to believe in the curse because it makes a better story.

I'm not sure about the Sports Illustrated curse, but there is the dreaded
Pokychick curse which means the team I cheer for will lose.
with apologies to the Buffalo Bills, TN Titans, and countless other teams I have cheered for that almost, but not quite won the big one.
