Do you have a "seasonal" hair thing going on? Could be longer hair, shorter hair, facial hair, or mohair suits...
Personally, I grow a beard once the colder weather season comes around. I'm 4 days into my "Beard Season" (as my Wife calls it)...

I usually get a shorter haircut in the spring then let it grow. It usually gets past my shoulders in the winter.
