I'm considering this next summer:

The greatest obstacle would be the program costs and travelling (I can work and/or get sponsorship)...but it will be worthwhile making a difference in the world...

Kinda like Canadian Peace Corps? I didn't really look at the site, but what I saw looked good. I'd love to do Peace Corps but the 2.5 years is too much of a commitment for me right now. Same story with the Army. Maybe sometime in the future.

You can volunteer in specific areas such as healthcare, teaching, conservation, etc anywhere from 3-24 weeks if you want something short term...
