I usually work out in the early AM with the weights. Throughout the day I start to feel it more and more in my muscles but it's not until I actually go to sleep and wake up that I'm actually sore?

It is called DOMS - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness. It sounds like you are overdoing it a little. If you just started lifting weights, cut back and do not go to failure for a few weeks until your body adapts to the new/different stress.

I'm going to poo-poo what Tribob posted and tell you that if you're not a little sore, you're not working hard enough. If you're so sore that you can barely walk (and I've done that before) then you'll want to back off some.

Example :: I did legs yesterday early AM. By the end of the day, they're starting to get a little sore. This morning they're moderately sore, but not so sore that I couldn't do some speedwork on the bike.

Little sore = thumbs up

A lot sore = thumbs down

It's not a bad sore. It feels good in a sick kinda way. Let's me know I've done something.

It also helps to increase the water intake to help flush out toxins. if you do early morning workouts try the following (if possible)

workout, light massage ( body stick or self massage) warm to hot shower stretch and cool shower off till it's as cold as you can stand it.

this process will greatly improve recovery. happy lifting. Very Happy

Agree with PH here. There's a difference between good pain and bad pain. My guess is you're just experiencing some of that good pain.

And good for you! thumbs up
