church, but then that is one of my jobs, and the local community theater where I do some work. Many of the teachers at my kids' schools know me by my first name from years ago when I was a substitute teacher.

umm...half of Columbus...or it seems that way. I know a ton of people from my tending bar/waiting tables days and I go out a fair amount..I used to go out a LOT
Also, I tend to shop at the local farmer's market type place for food and patronize the smaller businesses for certain things. Small retailers really make more of an effort to know and openly recognize their customer base. It makes shopping/runnning errands more pleasant.

Running. Most of my neighbors are elderly (go figure) and they have tons of time to chit-chat. So, I try to talk with as many of them as I can.
